The Happy Ghosthunter

Before you go out on your own to try a bit of ghosthunting, please read below, we have a few good ideas for you:

  1. NEVER go out alone.
  2. Take more than one picture of the exact same spot.
  3. Bring a sweater. Even on hot summer nights, graveyards can get colder than the temperature on the street.
  4. Bring a first aid kit. We're not saying ghosties will hurt you, but it would suck if you tripped if cut yourself somehow.
  5. Be respectful of graves. We encourage our members to pick up garbage if possible, and not to run in the graveyards. We also try not to directly to walk on graves when possible.
  6. Bring extra batteries. We noticed some places have the tendency to suck all the life from our batteries. We bring rechargeables- and lots of spares.
  7. Bring a notebook. It's not a mandatory item with our investigators, but it helps to note down stuff you think is important.

About the Paranormal...

Q:  What are orbs?

A:  We don't think anyone has the perfect answer to that
one. There are lots of theories. They could be a form of
earth energy, spirit form, or something else mankind has
     yet to discover.

Q:  How do I start my own paranormal group?
      - M.G., Pascara, Italy

A:  You need at least one or two dedicated members to start
with. You do not want to ghost hunt alone. We recommend
getting everything organized before you start your group.
Figure out what equipment you have that you can use.
You can also view our samples site for ideas and
inspiration. The biggest part is how you get your
information. Investigations should be preformed as
professionally and scientifically as possible. Start with
local venues: cemeteries are great for training and
practice, provided that it isn't too cold outside. Expand by
visiting heritage sited and asking permission from the
owners, explaining that it won't cost them anything, and
what you do. You can also contact a local newspaper or
radio station and see if a reporter would be interested in
coming with you. The media is a great way to get into
places not always accessible to the general public.

We offer excellent free training in person and over the net
via e-mail for anyone interested. Just email us thru the
link at the bottom of the Q & A section.

Q:  I just took a picture in my living room, and there's orbs in
      it. Is my house haunted?
      - L.R., Maple Ridge, BC

A:  Seeing orbs in a picture doesn't always mean your house
is haunted. It could be dust. Orbs are quite mysterious.
Although we've seen them at many haunted locations,
nobody really knows what they are. They could be a
spirit form, they could even be energy from people too.
Who knows? If you are really concerned, you could call
us or another group for an investigation.

About the Society:

Q: What Happens when you come over to do an
     investigation?
     - K.B., Vancouver, BC

A:  Before the investigation, we will ask you not to smoke or drink any alcoholic beverages the day we come. We prefer to do our investigations at night, when its a bit more quiet. Once we arrive at your home, we will briefly introduce ourselves, and set up our equipment. One of our members will conduct a short interview with you. We have four parts to our investigations. Part one: during your interview, the rest of the team will take pictures throughout the house. Part Two: we set up a video camera in a location that will not be disturbed, usually in a room that has had some activity. Part three: In another room, we will attempt to record EVP. You are welcome to join us. This is where we have a recording device running, and try to record voices and sounds inaudible to the human ear. Part Four: We pack up our equipment, and go over any immediate  findings with you. There's more, but those are the basics.

Q: Why Interview the clients?
     - John, Seattle, WA

A:  We interview our clients to get a better understanding of
exactly what is going on. This includes first hand accounts,
history of paranormal experiences at the location, and
other questions to better comprehend the situation.

****

Q:  Will I / my house be on your website?
      - J.S., Pitt Meadows, BC

A:  Only if you give us permission to do so. If we find
evidence we would like on our website, we will contact
you and ask first. We respect everyone's right to privacy,
and will never publish anything without written permission,
either hand written, or by e-mail.

****

Q:  Why don't you ask for money?
      - C.L., Port Coquitlam, BC

A:  Everyone in the Society is a volunteer, and understands
this is a non- paying position. We are all persons
interested in paranormal phenomena, and our payment is
the experience. We will accept donations, however, and
will happily divide them among the group.

****

Q:  How do I join your group, and what's involved?
      - G.F., Pitt Meadows, BC

A:  Joining us is easy. Send us an email.
All we ask of our members is that they supply their own
equipment, try to get their own transportation, respect the
team, and behave in a professional manner. We do a
couple of training nights with the newbies, and then they
learn the rest as they go.

Is My House Haunted?

So, You think your house is haunted. Cool!! But before you get carried away and try to call a movie company or TV station, Check out what's below:

  • Quite a few times, the situation can be explained. Look for every logical answer first.
  • When in doubt, give us a shout! Or check the contact page for a link to a group in your area. We are experienced, and may find something you didn't.
  • Orbs can be deceiving, and they don't necessarily mean your house is haunted. Dust can also look like an orb. Orbs can cast shadows, and are usually bright white, and seem to be moving, we think they actually vibrate. Other weird things can also be camera straps, hair, reflections, and rain. They look spooky, but they're not.
